My work blends traditional Tai Chi principles with a modern understanding of how the body moves as an integrated system. For me, Tai Chi is far more than a sequence of slow movements. It is intelligent movement training that improves balance, posture, strength, coordination and long term joint health.

My aim is simple: to make Tai Chi accessible, practical and meaningful for everyday life, in a friendly and supportive environment.

My Tai Chi Journey

I first discovered Tai Chi while looking for a gentle yet effective way to improve my mental health and overall well being. At first, I saw it as many people do, a slow and relaxing form of exercise. Very quickly, however, I realised that something deeper was happening.

My posture improved. My balance became more stable. Muscles that had been overworking began to relax. Strength developed in a way that felt natural rather than forced. Most importantly, the sense of calm and clarity stayed with me long after each session.

Over time, my curiosity deepened. I became fascinated not just by learning the forms, but by understanding how they work. How does the hip connect to the shoulder? How does the spine transmit force? How can relaxed movement generate surprising strength? This exploration of biomechanics and functional movement has shaped the way I now teach.

My Approach to Teaching

In my classes, we do not simply copy shapes. We explore how each movement works through the body.

I place strong emphasis on:

• mindful movement and body awareness
• structural alignment and efficient posture
• whole body coordination from the feet through to the hands
• developing relaxed, connected strength
• reducing unnecessary tension

Traditional Tai Chi principles remain at the heart of what I teach. Alongside this, I draw on an understanding of functional movement and how different parts of the body work together as one integrated system. Small adjustments in alignment or coordination can dramatically improve stability, power and ease.

Qi Gong is also included within sessions to support breathing, relaxation and internal awareness.

There is no pressure to “get it right”. Tai Chi is a long term practice. Progress happens gradually, and every student is supported at their own pace.

Why Join My Classes?

Students often notice:

• improved balance and joint stability
• better posture and spinal alignment
• increased coordination and body awareness
• stronger legs and core stability
• reduced stress and muscular tension
• a calm, focused state of mind

Classes are suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Movements can be adapted, and you are always encouraged to work within your own comfort level.

If you have ever been curious about Tai Chi, I would be delighted to welcome you. Feel free to get in touch with any questions, or come along and experience it for yourself.

Welcome.
